The Gospel Outside A University And Mosque in Uganda

🇺🇬 While proclaiming the Gospel outside the University of Kampala in Uganda, our team preached Christ publicly near one of the largest mosques in the country.

As brother Jason and Pastor Joshua open-air preached in both English and Luganda, Pastor James and I crossed the street to engage people one-on-one with the Gospel.

We first spoke with several boda-boda motorcycle taxi drivers and met one man claiming to be a born-again Christian. After asking him questions about salvation and eternal life, it became clear that he truly understood the Gospel — not trusting in his works, but in Jesus Christ alone as his only hope before God. It was incredibly refreshing to hear because in Uganda many use the title “born-again” merely as a denomination while still trusting in works righteousness or false religion.

As we continued witnessing, we met a university student named Hedson who claimed to believe in “Jehovah God.” When asked why God should allow him into Heaven, he replied that he believed and tried to be a good person.

Using the Law of God and the Ten Commandments, we walked through Scripture together and showed that neither he nor any of us are truly good before a holy God. Romans 6:23 says the wages of sin is death, and James 2 reminds us that if we break even one commandment, we stand guilty before God.

When asked what God did so we would not have to perish in our sins, Hedson said, “I don’t know.”

Pointing to the cross necklace hanging around his neck, I reminded him that the answer was already before him: Jesus Christ.

We then shared the beauty of the Gospel — that Jesus Christ, God manifested in the flesh, lived the perfect life we could never live and died on the cross for sinners, rising again from the dead so that all who repent and place their faith in Him alone may be saved.

Please pray for Hedson, for the people of Uganda, and for faithful pastors like Pastor James who continue laboring for the Gospel there.

“Faith comes by hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” — Romans 10:17
