Preaching Jesus In The Hood on St. Patrick's Day
Preaching Jesus In The Hood on St. Patrick's Day. Deep Ellum was packed for the St. Patrick’s Day Bar Crawl, and with it came an atmosphere of indulgence and debauchery. By God’s grace, we were able to preach outside two different bars, leading to some powerful encounters. One of those was with Gabriel, who stopped to question me about our stance on abortion. This opened the door for a Gospel conversation. As we talked, he asked whether someone had influenced me to be out there or if it was something I genuinely wanted to do. I shared my love for Christ and my concern for his soul, which seemed to resonate with him. By the end of our conversation, he willingly took down our information, expressing interest in staying connected. Pray that the Lord continues working in his heart. Meanwhile, Jason spoke with a man named Mike, who believed his good works would earn him a place in Heaven. Jason shared the Gospel with him, using the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector (Luke 18:9-14) to show that salvation is by the grace of God alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone. Mike responded that it made sense, and when urged to repent and trust in Jesus, he said he would do so that very night. In the middle of this conversation, a wild brawl broke out between two women right across from us. It was chaotic, but it didn’t stop the Word from going forth. Many tracts were handed out, and countless people heard the preaching of the Gospel. Please pray for Gabriel, Mike, and all who heard the message and took tracts—that the Lord would convict their hearts and draw them to salvation. To Christ alone be the glory. Amen.
