Landon Thurman and Elijah Ching visited the Santa Monica Pier on June 29th. They had the privilege of preaching the Gospel to thousands of tourists from around the world visiting beautiful Southern California. While Landon was preaching about "Time Is Running Out," a couple named Brandon and Karla, who were grieving the loss of their child and going through a rough season, were drawn in by the message. They listened and then wanted to talk about God. When asked why God should let them into heaven, Brandon confessed that he didn't deserve to be let into heaven because of his life choices. So we pressed in to give Brandon and Karla hope, the hope of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. After sharing with him the Gospel, Brandon was in tears while hearing the Gospel, and we comforted him through scriptures such as 2 Corinthians 7:10, “For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death.” We wanted to remind him that it was the Holy Spirit who convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8). He also expressed, and it may be hard to hear in the video) that he was experiencing tension in his shoulders as if pulling him back, and after asking him if he was ready to give his life to Christ this very day, he expressed that he was willing, and the tension went away. He took a Bible and some literature to help with his new walk, and we emphasized the need for him to cry out to God and ask for His mercy. Over 600 Gospel tracts and about 6 Bibles were handed out that day. We hope that both Brandon and Karla come to faith in Christ, and we ask for you to pray for them. It most certainly was a fruitful labor.
