A group of us went out to expose the falsehood of the Jesus24 Event in Anaheim, California, at the Convention Center and preached the true biblical Gospel just outside of it. Many attendees would come up and ask us why we were there, and we would share our loving concern that, as brothers and sisters in Christ, we must warn one another of a false gospel and teaching. Acts 20:28-30 says, “Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood. I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them.” While the event did not physically have Benny Hinn present, many of the guest speakers on stage labor in ministry together and are under the yoking of his teachings, one who openly has denied the Trinity believing in a “9-godhead.” Just before getting ready to preach, we spoke to a brother named David who happened to walk out of the event because he did not align with the egalitarian liberties of allowing women to preach on stage, as we agreed with him that we, too, are complementarians, that although men and women are equal in personhood, we are created for different roles. He stopped by and was willing to discuss the survey with us. After asking a few questions about how one can be saved, he agreed that it is by the grace of God alone, through faith alone in Christ alone; simply put, repent and believe the Gospel. Repentance is not just a turning away from sin to do good works, but a turning from trusting in myself to save myself and looking exclusively to Jesus Christ to save me. He then joined us in leaving the event and sharing why it was false with other attendees. We had a very fruitful conversation, and even though we had differing doctrinal interpretations of cessationism and continuationism (the apostolic gifts of the Spirit, whether they have ceased or continue to this day), we united as brothers in Christ to stand for Truth and the advancement of the Gospel.
